“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/1/1th.5.22.KJV So, our pastor and his wife did a question and answer service a week or so back. That’s a dicey place for a preacher to put himself into! Social media came up and he did a deep dive. Lots of definite no-no’s (yeah, like absolutes!) but some grey areas he dove into. He got into PM’s. “Hey, I do that!” But am I doing it in a way that avoids “all appearance” of impropriety? “Yes, why yes I do!” Nah, he hit me with both barrels. Pastors can be so rude! Do you PM members of the opposite sex? 😳 Well, damn. This is harder than the tithing message he did a week before! I do… well, I DID. I talk about tending my garden some here. Sometimes it’s nice to have a friend come alongside me and point out a sprout I may not have seen. We all have different areas where we get challenged, some are cool with meat and some are necessarily more selective. In everything I seek to honor my God in Heaven, and on earth my wife, Lisa. Does this honor her, nope. It took me a few days for it to crystallize but it became clear. Grabbed my shovel- garden needed some new manicuring. Sometimes it takes me awhile, and I’m certainly not perfect, but I’m trying. 🙂 (PS: Judging by my eyes I wasn’t doing ANY abstaining that party- but it was 35 years ago so. 🙄😳🙄…🥴
