Mindset: Walk it out. Life is going to throw us some curves, guaranteed. We can get all flustered and sketchy or we can assess the situation and seek to optimize it. It’s a profound learning exercise which I hope to turn into my practice. Here’s one; 6 months of literally no upper body work due to surgery- SUCKS BIG TIME. But… wait, I’ve got abs and legs here too! This is 6 months of beating on my calves. Workarounds and adaptations are crucial at middle age, especially for skinny little leprechaun legs! Exercise: Lower Strength- Rehab phase; lots of body weight and dumbbell workout. And those damned mountain climbers! Nutrition: heavier protein and carbs for yesterdays upper body work. No sweets!
