Floating thoughts: Inner grumbling at my inability to set a hook proper had me ready for the tube to float on. Hate it when my rhythm is off... missing bites, feeding the doggone fish, or impatience. It had been a good long while since I fished but it all got me thinking. Life is like that a lot. When you don’t put your hand to something or turn your intentions toward it... your focus, you lose it.... you start anew. Eventually you find your groove or if you’re like me, decide you spent enough time on it after your hook goes too deep on a bluegill you didn’t intend to keep. I hate waste. My lack of practice might have cost that fish his life and I didn’t even plan on eating him. I wasn’t seriously fishing. Wasn’t hungry. Just puttering. So I floated on a tube instead and thought. Avoiding the dock where I saw a snake floating lol. It was a good day. Hot but a nice breeze coming in, gentle waves lifting the dock in a way designed to put ya to sleep, and the sounds.... laughter in the distance, boats that sounded like they had jet engines for motors, dog barking excitedly, birds, creaking dock, lapping water, the pop of fish as they break water for one of those tasty damsel flies or whatever they were. The water felt like silk... warm and smooth, softening my skin as I floated. Good company, even if said company was out-fishing me lol. I don’t mind being put in my place by someone that has 24 years on me. Sometimes God uses the most interesting ways to remind me of just how far back I’ve stepped in controlling my activity and environment. So I’ve been trying to say yes to more things. It’s wearing me out a little but there is purpose in it. Knowing my Father... there are most likely multiple purposes and layered 😁. I’m enjoying these days tho, even if there’s more pain, even if things are harder. Feels like the calm before the storm, this period in my life. Hopefully I’m ready for whatever my Father has in store.
