An open letter to us who need to be BETTER Comment πŸ’ͺπŸ‘ŠπŸ‘ if you agree! β€”β€”β€”β€” To whom it may concern, Yes, there is an unholy alliance between the garbage food put out by our food industry (food like substances) that make us fat sick and nearly dead AND the pharmaceutical industry that puts out magic pills to keep our bodies going despite the ridiculousness we're feeding ourselves.πŸ’Ή However - here's my beef with this picture. *#dadjoke not intended* πŸ• Our nature, biologically, is to eat foods with high energy density that taste sweet, fatty, and salty πŸ• πŸ“Ί Our nature is to go for the path of least resistance: the convenience of a sedentary lifestyle while shirking responsibility to train ourselves through uncomfortable exercise. πŸ“Ί 🀩 Our nature is to follow the flashy marketing and packaging of shelf-stable items that bacteria won't even. 🀩 πŸ’ŠπŸ’‰πŸ§¬Our nature is to look for a magic pill to fix our cholesterol, energy levels, #testosterone, anxiety, depression, and weight loss problems rather than address our sleep habits, lack of cardio and weight training, poor nutrition, and overdependence on alcohol and caffeine πŸ“πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’€ πŸ‘‰This picture does NOT depict the responsibility we have as individuals to choose BETTER πŸ‘ˆ ***READ THAT AGAIN*** Nobody is driving you to the nearest drive-through in lieu of cooking dinner tonight. No one is forcing you to sit on the couch and scroll on your phone instead of going for a walk. Literally, no one is clicking on the next youtube video when you should've been asleep 3 hours ago. If you care to, you can become aware of what you're putting in your face. πŸ₯• You can decide to prepare your own food. You can limit some of the tasty morsels you eat for convenience and self-soothing πŸ₯© β˜•οΈYou can pay attention to how certain foods make you feel. πŸ•πŸŒ­πŸ₯ž You can choose to eat things that your body can build a good version of you out of 90% of the time and guiltlessly enjoy some modern marvels 10% of the time rather than the other way around. If you care to, you can move purposefully and regularly. πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈYou can train your body to metabolize the food you eat well. πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ You can get your heart rate up and limit your dependence on medications for psychiatric disorders, metabolic diseases, and cardiovascular maintenance. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ You can lift heavy things with good form and unlock a better you. If you care to, you can take your daily habits seriously. ⏰ You can set a bed time for yourself. πŸ’ƒ You can get up and walk, dance, work, clean, garden. πŸ““ You can journal your dreams, your failures, and your plans to improve 😊 You can express gratitude, encourage others, and give what you have with a gracious heart. For the first time in human history, there are more obese people than starving people. We have a world of plenty compared to our great grandparent's want. So what do we do with that? ⬇️ Human nature is here - standing in the middle with our mouths wide open, taking it all in without an eye on the consequences. It's easy. Tasty. Simple. And blind. 😠 Then we can go on blaming everyone but ourselves for the predicament we find ourselves in. But with a little bit of humility, discipline, and intention, I believe we can be BETTER. πŸ‘ I believe we can take responsibility for our nature. πŸ‘Š I believe we can shut our mouths, stop spending our money and lives foolishly, and walk a better path. πŸ™Œ I believe our children and grandchildren deserve BETTER from us.
