On my quest to make a nutritious cookie I have bravely eaten many a failure, so did my kiddos. All in the name of science. We made sacrifices. We bravely forged ahead. I think my pastors favorite was my oatmeal, cranberry, and dark chocolate cookie. A couple of my kiddos liked snickerdoodles but you can only make those marginally better. My favorites for nutrition were my dark molasses cookies and my pumpkin cranberry cookies. Unfortunately, not everyone liked my favorites. Now why am I talking cookies? And on a Sunday no less? Lol It isn’t because I’m coming off three days of sparse food intake, nor is it because I just like to think about food more than I do eating it. It is the thoughts around food that’s eating at me (pun intended). I can cook two meals… identical in the end result but only one would be the better choice. You wouldn’t know it to taste. They both taste great. Cooked one in half the time of the other. Used quality ingredients. So what gives? Let’s make some chicken, mashed potatoes, and peas (cuz those are @Coach Jess fav lol) add a little strawberry shortcake as dessert. Now on one meal I went for fresh ingredients: good chicken, not that hormone laden crap menopause will steer ya toward, fresh potatoes, garden fresh or frozen peas, quality butter, homemade angel food cake, strawberries, and homemade whipped cream with only a bit of sweetness. Good stuff right? Now I can shorten the cooking time and even get more bang for my buck by using canned peas, Tyson chicken, and instant mashed taters. This strawberry short cake: some frozen sweetened berries, bakery angel food cake, and cool whip. One of those is more nutritionally dense and the ingredients as little processed as possible and you control the adds: sugar, sodium, spices, etc… Now how am I going from there to cookies? God gave us all these good things to nourish and heal our bodies. Certain spices when combined together are powerful adds in your diet and nutrition. Food can inflame a body true but if you bring your meals and food together with the aim of bringing your body into balance, fueling it well, while boosting it with good adds (spices and power food combinations); then when eaten in gratitude before our Father, I believe that even our corrupted food will bring about good things within: strength, nutrition, even healing. Even a cookie can be nutritious when made well, eaten thankfully, eaten at a good time, and used well by your body, and even vegetables can slowly poison you if you are sedentary and snacking on them in the middle of the night, and not being aware of the toxins from the soil, nor clearing them from your body with exercise, water, and added supports. It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man but what comes out of his mouth. And if his mouth is full of cookie he’s one step ahead 😁 ok that one’s a stretch.
