One thing I’m working on in my 1 Percent journey is to grow as a father. Did you know the average small child gets less than 20 minutes per day with their parents without technology involved? Part of the reason is it’s hard sometimes to get into a “spirit of play” as an adult. I have a lot of room to grow, but one thing I have committed to and am learning to do well is to spend time having fun with my boys daily. Here’s a game we made up: We build a fort. That’s base. Then we take a few minutes to choose a superpower to fight bad guys with (we eat a cheez it to signify the transformation). Then we take turns designating where in the house the bad guys are and how many. Then we run and have an imaginary battle. Then we come back and do it again with new superpowers. It might sound like a silly game. But they love it! The spirit of play is a loving and teaching force! Creativity. Conversation and articulation. Vocabulary. Courage. Imagination. Story telling. And fun memories. Here’s a fun excerpt with my 3YO Bennett choosing his powers ;) What’s one game you loved playing as a kid or love playing with your kids? #my1percent
