John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Who’s light are you shining? We have all entertained the analogy of shining our light to illuminate the steps in front of us, while walking in a darkened world. Even imagining Gods people gathering to expand the light. This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine. Yep… that’s my light and I’m shining it with everything I got. It’s not much but it illuminates each step, keeps me from tripping over my feet and others most times. Yep… just shining my light. Jesus: I am the light of the world. If you’re following me… you ain’t gonna need that light of yours. At least not to walk to the path that leads to life. And then I get a glimpse of that ever expanding envelope of light, covering me in a warm caress, and realized I only need to shine my light to eliminate my own shadow. The light we are meant to shine is upon our own hearts and within our own garden as we meet our Lord there. He illuminates my path, ignites the spark of my own lamp, and I realize that I am the vessel needing to be filled with the lamp oil that is Christ. And then I realize in my thought wanderings that God has answered a question I had. In the parable of the ten virgins you have both foolish and wise possible brides. My question: what’s the lamp oil and how do I keep it full? The lamp oil that is Christ… I am the vessel. I get so close to understanding Lord… preserve that light in me and let me shine bright enough to erase my own shadow as I merge my light with Yours. As I look to you to be filled, I’m trusting that: He who began a good work in me will see it through to its completion. So glad we aren’t relying on my light, or my poor vision. My better today: My heart is right and tho my wick is trimmed and my shadow was creeping in, You reminded me that all I need to do is follow You. I’ll never walk in darkness with the light of Christ leading me and the Glory of God encompassing me and serving as rear guard. Thats better than better. Set out to encourage y’all and found myself encouraged. Love it when God does that ♥️ my apologies for the incomplete thoughts but I’m certain our many purpose and infinitely complex and beautiful creator can lead ya there. I’ll never walk in darkness. I wish words conveyed the wonder. Happy Sunday all!
