Conversations with Bob I hope y’all are lucky enough to have a Bob in your life. I have a couple (and they aren’t all named Bob) but this Bob in particular has been a blessing. He’s 76 and so full of vitality and love for family and community. His personality has nuances of so many that I’ve loved and lost. He’s become family to me and a dear friend. We have some of the funniest conversations and I’m telling ya he can shoot the breeze. His better doesn’t look quite like ours here but it’s the best kind of better when your focus is on the things that matter most. After 76 years, he’s holding fast to those things. Thought I’d share a recent conversation about the shrimp cakes I made. Me: I’m glad you liked them. Bob: I like those salmon ones too. Me: yeah me too, I add chickpeas to my patty’s on those. Bob: you add what? Me: chickpeas Repeat that three times in yer head and me yelling chick peas at the end cuz he can’t hear squat lol. After that he looks at me and smiles and for a brief moment I see my dad looking out of his eyes as he said: oh, you like that weird shit. Made my day and I said why… yes Bob I reckon do lol God uses those moments to comfort and strengthen me. He’s reminding me that Hes redeeming the times and He sees my heart. He comes alongside in the sweetest of ways and I’m so thankful to hide those moments in my heart. My win this week is in the richness of my friends.
