"When life gives you lemons..." Make lemonade. The saying goes. But, have you ever thought about this? Lemons here represent something sour, or bad, that we are being told to add sugar to, to make it sweet. But, did you know in Ancient Rome, only the elite tended to have lemons. Life giving you a lemon then, that'd be pretty sweet all on its own. Think of how many other blessings we may miss simply because the world tells us they're sour. My example: I cannot work or drive any longer due to my body's limitations The world maybe takes pity. But, the blessing: my job in the corporate world distracted me from God's world. It's hard to walk with God while trying to be politically correct and make everyone lots of money. I also have learned so much about compassion and empathy, for myself and others. Finally, I am here with my children. Yes there are struggles I face every day, but getting to spend this time with them is a beautiful gift. Psalms 71:15 kind of let's us on to the idea that God has blessed us beyond our understanding, in ways we don't even know ("My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.") So I suppose my message today is this: if you get lemons, look for their value. Don't let the world turn your blessings sour. And no matter the circumstance, He is always our refuge. If you're going through a really tough time, give the whole Psalm 71 a peek. It may make you tear up, but, it's also filled with so much hope and power. 😊 have a great day.
